Chartered in 1845 by Ezra Keller 和 a group of pastors who broke with the German church 和 created the English Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Ohio. The new synod voted unanimously to establish a theological 和 literary institution that would serve the educational 和 cultural needs of new immigrants 和 new communities.
